The Standard Pathway requires applicants to have successfully passed the Australian Medical Council Multi Choice Examination (AMC MCQs) and to have completed a period of supervised practice.

Doctors who have obtained their primary medical degree from Australia or New Zealand are eligible for general registration in all states of Australia.

Overseas trained doctors from outside these two countries may be eligible for general registration once they have passed the Australian Medical Council (AMC) exams and completed a period of supervised practice.

Overseas trained specialists can apply for recognition or assessment of their specialist qualifications through the Australian Medical Council and the relevant specialist college.
